The Reliever of the Year goes to the American League reliever who put forward the strongest season.
"I just feel like the ball was doing what I wanted it to this year and I was in command most nights out there," he said. "Some days you don't have your best stuff, but I didn't have too many of those days this year."
On the season, van de Bilt pitched 93.1 innings, with 134 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.89. He also had 4 saves in 46 relief appearances.
He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 30. Adam Ratcliff of the Chicago White Sox finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Zach Ault of the Chicago White Sox finished third with 1 first place vote.
