NL Announces 2044 Rookie of the Year Award Friday, November 18th , 2044 The outstanding National League newcomer for 2044 has been selected and the trophy goes to Arizona left fielder Roy Steigerwald. He received the Rookie of the Year Award on the strength of his fine performance this season. It was a season to remember for the 24-year-old Diamondbacks rookie. He wrapped up his first year with a .324 batting average, 20 doubles, 5 triples and 17 home runs. Steigerwald also had 62 RBIs and scored 84 times. He received 28 first place votes out of a possible 30. Marcus Wolfe of the Arizona Diamondbacks finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Andrew Robinson of the Pittsburgh Pirates finished third.
