Oaks Snap Bauman's Streak at 21 Thursday, August 25th , 2044 The Palm Beach Nationals lost to the Oakland Oaks 12-4 today at Oakland Oaks Grounds, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Steve Bauman's 21-game hitting streak. The left fielder went 0-for-5 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Bauman, we would win the game," Oaks manager Matt Orlando explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Thus far this season Bauman is hitting .332 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 63 hits in 190 at-bats and has played in 52 games. |
