Amarillo ThunderHeads left fielder Bryan Wheeler left the Portland pitching staff in ruins at Ballpark of Amarillo today, beating the Angels 17-6 with a prodigious three-home run performance.
"The last one was totally unexpected," Wheeler told reporters at the press conference following his big game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get a home run, and bang, I got number three."
For the game, the Amarillo left fielder had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 and scored 5 runs.
Bryan Wheeler hit a two-run home run off Josh Brewer in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Josh Brewer in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Manuel Vega in the 8th.
Wheeler on the season is batting .400 with 20 home runs. His totals include 55 RBIs and 46 runs scored. He has played in 40 games.
