Chew Connects for 3 Homers for Devils
Monday, September 19th , 2044
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Winnipeg Goldeyes today.
New Jersey third baseman Gang-sheng Chew tripled up on the home runs to propel the Devils to the 14-3 win at Field of the Devils.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Winnipeg manager Gift Ngoepe said. "Chew hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Chew collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Gang-sheng Chew hit a two-run home run off Tom Winsor in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Carlos Palacios in the 4th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Tim Weller in the 8th.
This year Chew is batting .326 with 116 hits and 77 home runs. He has scored 104 times and has batted in 154 runs.
