Turan Brilliant, Fans 15 Tuesday, September 27th , 2044 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Jim Turan, the Chester Pirates topped the Columbus Reds today by a score of 11-1 at Chester Ballpark. The 19-year-old Turan brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 5 hits and giving up 3 walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Reds manager Flint Wipke said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." In 25 starts this season, Turan has recorded 10 wins and absorbed 8 losses. He has pitched 161.1 innings, allowed 164 hits, struck out 205 and has a 3.68 ERA. |
