Mendoza 5-for-6 for Houston
Saturday, October 1st , 2044
Fans at Colt .45's Stadium got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season.
The Houston Colt .45's outplayed the Roswell Invaders en route to a 23-2 win, but the standout was left fielder Juan Mendoza. Mendoza netted 5 hits in 6 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line.
"Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Invaders manager Casey Baron said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too."
Juan Mendoza hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Haight in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Henry Torres in the 6th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
Mendoza is batting .337 this season in 118 games with 26 home runs, 118 RBIs and 86 runs scored. He has 155 hits in 460 at-bats.
