Quarter-Finals Goes the Distance, Oakland Prevails Wednesday, November 2nd , 2044 The Oakland Oaks are heading to the Semi-Finals, having narrowly defeated the Americus Braves. Oakland edged Americus in the series 4-3, with a win at Oakland Oaks Grounds in the clinching game by a 3-2 margin. Mike Murphy turned in a strong offensive performance for the Oaks and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Murphy continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .467 with a .556 on-base percentage.
