Melendez Socks It to Bulldogs, Cracks 5 Hits Sunday, October 16th , 2044 It was a big day for Jose Melendez and he brought the Louisiana State University Tigers along for the ride. Melendez led his club to a 15-4 victory over the Mississippi State University Bulldogs today at Dudy Noble Field, smoking Mississippi State University pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. The 17-year-old center fielder later called the victory "sweet." Jose Melendez singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. In 49 games this season Melendez is batting .323 with 62 hits and no home runs. He has scored 27 runs and driven in 18. |
