Gil Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle Tuesday, November 15th , 2044 In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Florida State University left fielder Rafael Gil hit for the cycle today as the Seminoles marched to victory over the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers, 13-0. Gil collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 4 RBI and 1 run scored to help Florida State University take the Springs Brooks Stadium contest. "It was the last thing on my mind, really," Gil said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway." Rafael Gil hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jon Lizarraga in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit an RBI triple in the 8th. Thus far this year Gil has hit .285 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. |
