Hammerheads Losing Streak at 6 After Extra-Inning Loss to Mudcats
|
The Carolina Mudcats wiggled past the Jupiter Hammerheads, 4-3, at Roger Dean Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Tony Acevedo. Carolina pitcher Alex Quinonez got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Philip Veenstra got the loss. The Hammerheads fall to 10-15 and continue their lackluster start in 2038.
Ricky Fernandez drove in one run for Carolina. With one out and the game tied in the top of the 13th inning, Fernandez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Jupiter hurler Philip Veenstra, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Mudcats a 4-3 lead.
After the game, Carolina manager Dennys Reyes applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
