Reds Lose Late, 8-6
|
St. Louis second baseman Antoine Roux made his presence felt in the 8-6 Cardinals triumph over the Cincinnati Reds. Roux was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. The winner in relief was Steve Cooper. He is now 2-1. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. The Reds drop to 15-17 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2045 season.
Tom Butterbaugh helped out the St. Louis cause in the top of the eighth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the third baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Butterbaugh. "I just want to win ballgames."
