Mariners Dump Boston, 3-1, to Win 4th in a Row
|
Seattle rode a fine outing from starter Joe Hincks to victory over the Boston Red Sox at Safeco Field. The final score was 3-1. Seattle pitcher William de Jesus got the win, upping his record to 1-2. Fred Huber got the loss. Lance Crumpton was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Had Floyd-William Goof not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Goof hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Mariners.
Afterward, Mariners manager Aaron Schiff was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The win elevated the Mariners to 20-13.
