Rockies Lose to Phillies, 4-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies get after it.
Robby Benchio never let Colorado get something going. The Philadelphia right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Phillies to a 4-1 win. Benchio, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Justin Howard earned the save, his 14th.
Chef Belew, the 18th overall pick in the 2039 draft, contributed to the Philadelphia win with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Philadelphia skipper Paul Husch.
With the win, Philadelphia raised its record to 28-21.
