Chien, Mariners Too Much for Blue Jays
|
Bi-jun Chien knocked in 5 runs to help Seattle beat Toronto, 7-1. Chien produced 2 singles and 1 home run. The winning pitcher was Larry Tuckfard. He's now 6-3. He went 6 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits for the Mariners. William de Jesus nailed down his 4th save.
With Seattle leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Chien hit a 2-run single off Toronto hurler Tony Rios. It was the 45th hit of the season for Chien and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Chien.
The victory gives Seattle a record of 29-22.
