The Chicago Cubs overcame a fine performance by Pittsburgh first baseman Andrew Robinson to defeat the Pirates, 6-5, at Wrigley Field. Robinson went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Eric Oakes collected save number 15. With the win, Chicago upped its record to 37-21.

Terry Tuckfard drew 1 walk for Chicago. The two-time Great Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Antonio Alvarez. It was his 34th RBI of the season.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Mergatroid Skittle.
