Braves Beat San Francisco, 5-4
|
The Atlanta Braves took San Francisco pitcher Curt Howland's best shot and still were able to claim a win at AT&T Park. The final score had Atlanta getting past the Giants, 5-4. Howland went 5.2 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 9. Victor Munoz notched his 10th save in 11 chances. The Braves raised their record to 25-35.
Jordan Martin, the 22-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Atlanta up, 5-4.
In comments to the Atlanta Herald, Martin admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
