Getting a good performance from second baseman John Giesbrecht, the Texas Rangers defeated the Montreal Expos, 6-5. Giesbrecht was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Rangers. Pimbly Nimblebottom, the winning pitcher, is now 5-2. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3. Brad Kramer notched his 12th save in 14 chances.
Texas used the clutch hitting of Tommy Luce to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"It feels good to get this one," Giesbrecht told the Texas Herald.
The American League West Division-leading Rangers are 41-22.
