Roy Riess exploded for a barrage of base hits today at PK Park.

The Boise third baseman had a field day in the 28-1 triumph over the Eugene Emeralds, finishing 5-for-6.

"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."

Riess must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Roy Riess hit a two-run home run off Mark Duffy in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Jake Mitchell in the 4th, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jonathan Ridgely in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

This season Riess has hit at a .284 clip and produced 48 RBI, 8 home runs and 44 runs.
