Nationals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Yankees
|
The New York Yankees got a sterling performance from pitcher James Woods Jr., but the Washington Nationals still prevailed, 7-3. Woods Jr. threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win belongs to Chris Baran in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Tom Kelley took the loss for New York. Washington now has a record of 48-22 with the win.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Jared Speck, the former first round draft pick . Speck contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Washington up, 4-3.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said New York manager Carl Arnold.
