Great Effort by Starr Wasted in 10-7 Twins Loss
|
The Kansas City Royals withstood an impressive performance by Minnesota center fielder Matthew Starr to defeat the Twins, 10-7, at Target Field. Starr went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Kansas City pitcher Bryan Boykin got the win, upping his record to 5-7. Isaac Slack got the loss. Skyler Webster earned the save for Kansas City, his 2nd of the year.
Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Aaron Matthews to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Royals ahead, 10-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Matthews called the triumph "a good team win."
Kansas City raised its record to 41-28 with the win.
