White Sox Upend Tigers, 10-3
|
The Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers, 10-3, at Comerica Park. The White Sox got a fine performance from third baseman Antonio Figueroa, who was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner was Adam Ratcliff, who threw 99 pitches over 6.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits. The victory gives Chicago a record of 48-25.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Randy Rosenberry to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the White Sox on top, 7-0. For the game, Rosenberry had 1 home run and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Figueroa told the Chicago Bulletin. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
