Diamondbacks Stop Nationals, 6-3
|
Arizona picked up a win at Chase Field, toppling the Washington Nationals, 6-3. Pitcher Murphy Quirk was one of the reasons the Diamondbacks triumphed. Quirk picked up the win for Arizona, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 8-4. André Gaillard, credited with the save, is now 12 for 14 in save opportunities.
Alec Thorpe drove in one run for Arizona. The six-time Great Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brian Ramirez. It was his 46th RBI of the season.
Quirk called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Arizona has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
