Braves Score Late, Stun Phillies, 4-1
|
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Turner Field, taking down the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-1. Starting pitcher Franz Holzknecht was a big reason why. The Braves sport a record of 31-52.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Itsuo Egami came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Lennart Hjelm, he hit a 0-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Atlanta on top, 2-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Atlanta manager Andres Wray II.
