Padres Dominate, Sweep League Championship Series
|
Jerry Luckwell said he expected the League Championship Series to be "a battle from start to finish."
In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the San Diego Padres encountered little resistance in sweeping the Washington Nationals, to advance to the World Series.
"It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Luckwell.
San Diego won the final game by a 3-1 count and were led in the series by Luckwell, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .438 with 1 home runs. He also drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The San Diego Padres don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Seattle Mariners - Chicago White Sox series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
