The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Rogers Centre, knocking off the New York Mets, 2-1. On the mound for Toronto was right-hander Tony Rios, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 7.2 innings, Rios surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.

Toronto took a 2-1 lead on Jon Schick's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run came off New York pitcher Ron Hawkins in the bottom of the seventh.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Toronto manager Nersha Bainco.

The win elevated the Blue Jays to 58-27.
