Nationals Prevail, 5-3, Over Montreal
|
The Washington Nationals racked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Montreal Expos, 5-3. Tim Wybenga, who started for Washington, pitched effectively for his team. Wybenga, now 10-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Chris Baran was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 21 save opportunities.
Junzo Kato took Jonathan Jackson deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Nationals on top, 2-1. In all, Kato had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Winning never gets dull," said Kato.
The win for the Nationals raised their record to 57-30.
