Pirates Take Down Phillies, 3-2
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies played an exciting game.
In a low-scoring clash between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, pitcher Vince Scripp was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 win. With this game in the books, Pittsburgh is 46-47, Philadelphia 47-45.
Theodore Conboy was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pirates left fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Philadelphia manager Paul Husch.
