The 9-8 Kansas City win over Montreal was due in large part to Aaron Matthews. The Royals shortstop slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Gan Ts'ong, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. John Brooks was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities.

Tony Prado contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat that helped Kansas City get the win.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Prado told the Kansas City Bulletin.

With the win, Kansas City pushed its record to 54-39.
