Eaton, Pirates Clobber Twins, 10-1
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Minnesota Twins, 10-1, at Target Field. The win was due in part to shortstop Tommie Eaton, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Ryan Sunday was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Pittsburgh now has a record of 51-50 with the win.
Marvin McAleer, the speedster , had a direct impact on the outcome. McAleer contributed a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," McAleer told the Pittsburgh Chronicle.
