May 4-4, Blue Jays Move to 70-34
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Cleveland Indians, 6-5, in American League action at Rogers Centre. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto first baseman Jason May. The winning pitcher was Matt Altieri. He's now 12-4. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Blue Jays. Bobby Wright was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 20 save opportunities.
With Toronto leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, May hit a fastball from Apostolos Tsatsos for a bases-clearing double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-1.
"I still think this team can play even better," May told the Toronto Citizen.
The first-place Blue Jays, at 70-34, now lead their division by 8 games.
