Mariners Lose to Athletics, 6-3
|
Oakland and Seattle got after it at O.co Coliseum.
The Oakland Athletics bested the Seattle Mariners, 6-3, at O.co Coliseum. Sakae Kasahara was one of the standouts. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Shelby Rich was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Kasahara contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Oakland in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Kasahara took a slider from Nate Jackson and stroked the home run to left. His 35th home run of the season allowed the Athletics to leap in front, 3-2.
"We take it day by day here," said Kasahara, "and today was a good one for us."
The Athletics now have a record of 36-69.
