The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Miami Marlins, 5-4, in National League action at Marlins Park. Cincinnati pitcher Jeff Baker had a standout performance. Sam Alexander notched his 2nd save in 2 chances. The win elevated the Reds to 60-53.

Cincinnati used the clutch hitting of Fred Slade to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We found a way to get it done," Baker said.
