O'Brien Stars in 11-5 Nationals Win
|
The first-place Washington Nationals picked up another win.
The Washington Nationals beat the Chicago Cubs, 11-5, at Nationals Park. R.J. O'Brien, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Rafael Silva got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
Armando Carbajal, who finished 5th in the NL in doubles with 40 last year, helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," O'Brien told the Washington Daily.
Washington now has a record of 77-38 with the win.
