Twins Lose to Tigers, 5-4
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers get after it.
Minnesota got a terrific game from third baseman Hildo Pot. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Detroit, 5-4. Pot was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Riso Profanter was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 29 of 31 save opportunities.
Had Ryan Neal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Neal hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Tigers.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Neal told the Detroit Herald.
Detroit raised its record to 66-53 with the win.
