Tigers Deal White Sox 5-1 Defeat
|
The Detroit Tigers topped the Chicago White Sox, 5-1, in American League action at U.S. Cellular Field. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Melvin Medellin. With the win, Detroit upped its record to 67-53.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Brady Jeleniewski, the 25-year old shortstop . Jeleniewski contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Detroit up, 3-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Jeleniewski.
