Philadelphia Spoils Terrific Game by Belew
The Washington Nationals had to overcome a big game from Philadelphia catcher Chef Belew to leave Citizens Bank Park with a victory. And they did, winning 11-9. Belew went 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. With the win, Washington raised its record to 84-40.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman John Sanders came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Rico Romero, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 10-9.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Sanders said. "We did a good job of that today."
