Tigers Lose, 10-5, at U.S. Cellular Field
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, taking down the Detroit Tigers, 10-5. Starting pitcher Felix Bernal was a big reason why. Bernal, now 16-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. With the victory, the White Sox upped their record to 86-42.
The White Sox got a big at-bat from catcher Eduardo Maldonado. For the game, Maldonado was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Chicago a 3-2 lead.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Bernal. "Successful pitchers do it."
