Yankees Snag 6-4 Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a superb performance from pitcher Gavin Nelson, but the New York Yankees still won the game, 6-4. Nelson threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Dave Barry picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Jay Rapini took the loss. New York has now won 4 straight.
New York took a 5-4 lead on Evan Torraville's 40th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Baltimore pitcher Jay Rapini in the bottom of the eighth.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Torraville told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
