Big Day for Chambino in 9-1 Yankees Win
|
Bartholomeu Chambino left his imprint on the 9-1 New York win against the Cleveland Indians. Chambino, who finished 4th in the AL in hits with 197 in 2043, was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Leo Gonzales, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 1-0. The Yankees now own a record of 64-72.
With New York leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Chambino hit a fastball from Andy Zecher for a 3-run home run. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 5-1.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Chambino crowed after the game.
