Tigers Improve to 77-64 with 3-1 Win
|
Comerica Park was the site of a competitive game between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox, Constantino Chamisso was the difference-maker. The Detroit right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Eric Putnam converted his 9th save in 13 tries.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Dave Calder. For the game, Calder went 1-2 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Detroit manager Colin Lancey said.
Detroit now has a record of 77-64 with the win.
