The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants, 3-1. New York first baseman and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native Jeff Jank led the way. Enkei Wakamatsu, the winning pitcher, is now 10-5. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 2. Xu-gang Zhou was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 27 of 30 save opportunities.
Jank came through for New York with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. He hit a 1-0 fastball to center field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.
