Carbajal Stars for Nationals in 7-2 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Armando Carbajal, the Washington Nationals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-2. Carbajal was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Nationals. Washington is now 108-43, 24 games up in the National League East Division.
Carbajal contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Washington in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Carbajal took a changeup from Ayaz bin Jalal and stroked the home run to left. His 28th home run of the season allowed the Nationals to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Carbajal said.
