Atlanta Wins, 4-2
|
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the New York Mets, 4-2. On the mound for Atlanta was right-hander Kevin Ovens-Toots, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ovens-Toots, now 7-14, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Victor Munoz converted his 15th save in 20 tries.
Atlanta relied on the hitting of Jim Zucco to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Braves on top, 2-0. For the game, Zucco had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We played hard and won," said Ovens-Toots. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Atlanta, with the win, is 53-100.
