Phillies Top Nationals, 3-0, Behind Bernstein
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a magnificent performance from pitcher Scott Bernstein, who stifled the Washington offense en route to a 3-0 Phillies win at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia now sits at 73-85, while Washington falls to 112-46.
In his 105-pitch effort, Bernstein allowed no runs on 5 hits over 8 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 6.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Philadelphia manager Paul Husch said.
