Athletics Lose to Orioles, 6-2
|
Baltimore picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, toppling the Oakland Athletics, 6-2. Pitcher Gavin Nelson was one of the reasons the Orioles triumphed. Errol Dondale converted his 30th save in 39 tries. The last-place Orioles improved to 71-87.
Had Gabe Pace not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Pace hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Orioles.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pace told a Baltimore Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
