Extra-Inning Win by Yankees Over Red Sox
|
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Jeremy Hernandez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Yankees won the game, 5-3. Hernandez threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Robert Cruz snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 2-9 on the season. David Ibarra converted his 2nd save in 5 tries.
New York used the timely hitting of Geni Prawiranega to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Prawiranega said.
The 4th-place Yankees are 73-85.
