Cubs Hand Marlins 5-1 Loss
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins.
The exploits of shortstop Yasuhide Kasahara, who finished 4th in the NL in hits with 199 in 2042, helped the Chicago Cubs defeat the Miami Marlins, 5-1. Kasahara was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Miami falls to 1-1.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Kasahara. In the top of the seventh inning, when the Cubs were trailing 1-0, Kasahara delivered a two-out 2-run single for Chicago, giving his team the lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Cubs manager Mergatroid Skittle, "I like our chances."
