Brewers Suffer 5-3 Loss to Reds
|
Reds shortstop Saulo Maina put his stamp on his team's 5-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Maina was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Cincinnati in the contest. Marshall Barron, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Brewers to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 5. Cincinnati, with the win, is 3-1.
Maina contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Cincinnati in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Maina took a fastball from Mekonen Mahfudh and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Reds to leap in front, 5-2.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Maina.
