5-Hit Blitz by Charlotte's Carpini
|
Charlotte shortstop Sesto Carpini could do no wrong today, but the Stone Crabs could.
Carpini collected 5 hits against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, but he couldn't win the game. Charlotte fell, 8-7, in extra innings at Charlotte Sports Park.
"It's a shame we didn't win," Carpini said later. "It would have been a very special day if that had happened."
"In every one of his at-bats, things were in his favor," Flying Squirrels manager Bret Montgomery said. "We couldn't keep him from getting ahead in the count and once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get better pitches to hit."
Sesto Carpini singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Caleb Mullinax in the 10th.
This season Carpini is swinging the bat at a .232 pace. He has hit 4 home runs and scored 7 times, while driving in 14. His on-base percentage is .283 and he has played in 14 games.
